Job Description 
In this role, the AMN  Surgical Services Flex Team RN will provide professional comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment within a variety of specialty units, settings, and healthcare facilities. 

• Provide direct patient care in a surgical setting, to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and policies.  
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use. 
• Perform circulating functions before surgery, including preparing the operating environment, orienting and assessing the patient, and reviewing patient’s medical record and surgeon’s notes to ensure all pre-requisites and preferences are met. 
• Ensure safety checklists and procedures are implemented and documented at all times. 
• Perform circulating functions during surgery, including monitoring and communicating patient condition; documenting interventions and activities; monitoring the sterile field; and controlling traffic into, out of, and around the room. 

• May perform scrub functions, including the preparation, selection, and handling of instruments and supplies used during the surgical procedure and perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse. 
• Perform pre-op and post-surgical workflows. 

This position reports to the Nurse Manager of the assigned nursing department or unit and is accountable to the PSJH chief nursing executive and AMN chief clinical officer. 
 
Requirements 

 

• Experience in one of more of the following: pre-op, OR, PACU, and ambulatory surgery 

• RN experience and active, current unrestricted CA license  
• Robotic, ortho, and general OR experience 
• Graduate of an RN program—BSN degree preferred 
• CNOR certification preferred   
• BLS/CPR certification (issued by the American Heart Association) 

• ACLS  certification
